8 80 Cities Is Hiring a Summer Project Intern!

8 80 Cities is looking for an intern to support our project team delivering projects that will bring community ideas to life in public spaces!

The Summer Project Intern will support our various projects, programs, and initiatives related to our mission to ignite action and challenge the status quo to create healthier, more equitable, and sustainable cities for all people. Under the supervision of our Directors and Project Managers, the Summer Project Intern will be responsible for supporting community engagement processes, rapid prototyping in public space, coordinating public events, analyzing engagement data, and developing eye-catching communications materials and data visualizations. This role requires strong communication skills and the ability to coordinate across multiple tasks and projects. Knowledge of public space and transportation equity, and a passion for city building, is a must.

Wage: $27/hour
Hours: 37.5 hours/week
Reports to: Project Manager, Director
Term: 8 weeks
Location: The 8 80 Office is located at 364-401 Richmond Street West, Toronto. We are looking for a candidate based in the Greater Toronto Area. Work is a mix of remote, in-office, and on-site in community and public spaces. Candidate must be willing to travel within the GTHA and work in the evenings and weekends.

The position involves travel within the GTHA and work on evenings and weekends. Candidates should also be comfortable spending time outdoors in public spaces doing light to moderate physical activity, including walking, bicycling, and lifting pop-up placemaking materials.
