28 Aug 8 80 Cities Resources & Toolkits: Sharing 20 Years of Knowledge and Practice
At 8 80 Cities, our work extends beyond developing programs and projects. Over the past 20 years, we have also created a wide range of resources, toolkits, and practical guides designed to support practitioners, advocates, policymakers, and community leaders in building more inclusive, people-centred cities.
Throughout our history, we have published: Red Deer Mobility Playbook (City of Red Deer, Alberta), 30 K Livable Streets Report (Toronto), Building Better Cities with Young Children and Families (Bernard van Leer Foundation, the Netherlands), Creating Parks and Public Spaces for People of All Ages (AARP, USA), My City Too (Toronto), School Streets Guidebook (Victoria), Addressing Homelessness in Parks: An Inclusive Practices Guide (AARP), Winter Placemaking Guide (AARP, USA), School Streets Toolkit (Ontario Active School), Seniors Outdoors Activation Toolkit (Toronto), Creating Community Gardens for People of All Ages (AARP, USA), all available on our website or through dedicated project platforms, including the Winter Cities Toolkit and the Open Streets Toolkit.

These resources cover a variety of topics related to our mission of creating cities that are healthier and more inclusive for all, including public spaces, winter city design, Open Streets programming, School Streets planning, community engagement, and more. Whether you are looking for inspiration, practical tools, or step-by-step guidance, you’ll find valuable information to support your work.

You can also access a collection of civic engagement tools designed to help communities collaborate, participate, and shape better public spaces in our Resource Hub.
We are proud to share two decades of knowledge, lessons learned, and best practices. We hope these materials inspire and support you in your efforts to create healthier, more vibrant, and more equitable communities for all.
